In addressing the problem of period poverty, Jamii Afyaplus Limited (JALI), a social enterprise is producing an eco-conscious, non-toxic, antimicrobial treated products for preventing infections, user-friendly, cost-effective range of reusable sanitary pads known as Afyaplus pads that can be used up to three years as a healthy solution for those who can’t afford to buy disposable pads, addressing the problem of period poverty and its negative psychosocial consequences for women and girls in Tanzania while improving school attendance and academic performance. Also, we provide employment opportunities and women’s empowerment through sewing skills training.
